Highfield Internal Quality Assurance Qualifications

Towercourt Training offer three nationally-recognised IQA qualifications:

Level 4 Award in Understanding The Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (Theory only)

The Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice does not qualify you to internally quality assure assessment.

This course simply provides you with the theory and understanding behind internal quality assurance. It is an ideal CPD course for managers who want to gain a better understanding of the quality assurance process.

If you need to be able to quality assure assessments, you will need either the:

Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
or the:
Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 45 hours | Credits: 6

The Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices consists of just one unit. This is:

Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

This unit is a knowledge unit and will provide you with a thorough understanding on the internal quality assurance of assessment. It is delivered via written assessment and professional discussion.

Based on a couple of hours of study a week, this course should take you around 2 months.

Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (For Practitioners)

The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice gives you all the skills and knowledge necessary to provide quality assurance of assessments and assessment decisions.

It does not allow you to become the lead IQA for the workplace. For these roles, you will need the Level 4 Certificate.

GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 90  | Credits: 12

The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices consists of two units. These are:

Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

This unit is a knowledge unit and will provide you with a thorough understanding on the internal quality assurance of assessment. It is delivered via written assessment and professional discussion.

Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

Within this unit the trainee IQA is required to monitor two assessors, each with at least two learners of their own. This will involve Towercourt Training observing your practical assessment in the workplace.

Based on a few hours of study a week, this course should take you around 6 months.

Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (For ‘Lead’ IQA)*

The Lead IQA qualification is the most highly regarded of all the IQA qualifications.

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, often referred to as the Lead IQA Qualification, is the most highly regarded of all the IQA qualifications.

It equips you with all the skills necessary to quality assure qualifications; manage the internal quality assurance processes for a training centre, manage other internal quality assurers, develop and write internal quality assurance policies and procedures, and manage external quality assurance (EQA) visits.

GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 115 | Credits: 17

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices contains 3 units. These are:

Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

Unit 3 – Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility

In Unit 3, you will learn how to and demonstrate planning, allocating and monitoring work in your own area of responsibility and change original work plans where necessary.

Based on a few hours of study a week, this course should take you around 6 months.

*Towercourt Training deliver quality assessment – this includes face to face observation in the workplace.
